Food Based supplements are where you really get the bang for you buck. These are just concentrated actual foods put in a tablet or capsule. A solid food based multivitamin should be something everyone takes to fill in nutritional gaps.
2) You Need Vitamin D3
This is one vitamin nearly everyone is deficient in and that’s a big problem since Vitamin D plays such a huge role in human biology. If you live in northern parts of the world Vitamin D supplementation becomes even more important because sun exposure on bare skin is what triggers the body to produce it. Without daily sun exposure to large parts of the body for 15 minutes you will be deficient in this super important nutrient.
A high quality fish oil is the other essential nutrient to supplement. Most people don’t each enough omega 3 fatty acids, which are extremely anti-inflammatory compounds found in fish oils. They are also found in chia seeds and fatty fish like trout, salmon and sardines.
For most people most of the time this is all you truly need to supplement. The supplements listed above cover all your bases and fill in most gaps people commonly have with nutrition. Beyond that specific testing of blood levels of nutrients is usually needed or a more in depth discussion with a health care provider.
