This Simple Snack Contains a Mega Dose of Vitamin C

Your body needs Vitamin C from your diet. This vital nutrient comes mostly from plant sources including oranges, lemons, mangos, broccoli, cauliflower and peppers. Getting enough Vitamin C is important because it helps protect the lining of the blood vessels, boosting immune system function and protecting important hormone signaling molecules amongst many other functions.

Much like other nutrients Vitamin C works best together with other nutrients. This synergistic effect is what makes the recipe below so great for the body. This recipe combines strawberries (one of natures best sources of Vitamin C), raw cocoa powder and yogurt. The cocoa powder provides magnesium, manganese, iron and other nutrients while the yogurt adds probiotics and protein. Plus it just tastes great.

To make it you will need:

1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 teaspoon raw cocoa powder
1/2 cup full fat yogurt

In a bowl set strawberries out to thaw 1-2 hours before you plan to eat. By using frozen berries the juice released as they melt will flavor the mixture. When thawed add the yogurt and cocoa powder and stir to mix. Then enjoy!
